Being one of the guests attending to a Tunisian wedding I was surprised to see to what extent a wedding celebration can go. Everything was revolving around singing and dancing, traditional food and beautiful gowns, all these lasting for an entire week. The guests arriving at the wedding event, the relatives and the closest friends were supposed to make their appearance in a luxurious way. The experience was quite unique to me, nothing that I had previously known in regard to a wedding event indicated any similarities to the Western traditional weddings.




Starting with the first step that included the signing of the marriage certificate and reaching the last night when bride and groom watch the celebration filled with music and dancing assisting from the height of a throne, the Tunisian wedding is performed in a lavish way. One of the things I was surprised at was the Tunisian wedding gowns, beginning with the bride’s attire and reaching the luxuriant way of displaying the wedding guests’ outfits, one could easily think of being in the middle of an Oscar night of Hollywood’s special events.
