Red Wedding Gowns

There are colors known to have in their expression contradictory meanings, but the contradictions that red delivers in its appearance seem to be the most extreme, if we are allowed to say so, since ‘most’ is ‘extreme’ in its definition. Red is a hot color that contains both love and violence as main meanings, as I have read somewhere: “Red is Cupid and Devil”. Generating these opposed states of mind it can also influence physical states inducing the raise of blood pressure and rate of respiration. There is actually the well-known saying “seeing red” which indicates fury with the expression of the natural flush of the cheeks to reflect the reaction to anger.

Basically, red is considered in the tone of colors as being a warm color though it denotes power as one can see it being used as the color of the carpet on which celebrities are stepping in for various ceremonies. Not to mention that red means to other cultures happiness and prosperity, attracting good luck, as it is the case with China’s culture, whereas South Africa sees it as the color of mourning.

When used with other colors its effect may fade away, thus in combination with green makes it a Christmas color for a joyful season, and with light pink and yellow reveals a good harmony at the same time becoming softer losing its powerful strength. For Christians there are three representative colors for Virgin Mary’s crone: white – meaning purity, the first period of life, red – symbolizing sensuality of an adult woman and black – bringing wisdom and experience.

For the bride who wants to make a point with their personality and needs to show her passionate love toward her beloved husband it is time to consider the option of other color than white for her wedding dress. Red wedding gown is an alternative that not too many brides choose, since they have the preconception that a red outfit is an attire that represents more the lusty side of the color than the one connected to powerful love.

However, fashion designers in their attempt to satisfy even a small segment of the bridal market have created lately red wedding gowns with couture that worth being envied by most of the women. It is almost impossible for a future bride to see a collection of red wedding gowns and not to be tempted to try one at least for a short time. It is the passion that this color transmits that makes you want whatever carries the hot red in it.

In a bridal magazine there was a commentary from an ex-bride who chose the red wedding dress as a gown for her wedding. She admitted that her temper was a bit quirky and always wanted to draw attention, and since her relationship with her fiancé had lasted 5 years already before they decided to get married, wearing the ‘pure’ white as a color for her wedding gown seemed to them a little bit inappropriate. So she decided to pick up red as she was found of that color and of red roses too.

In case you want to think outside the box and be audacious in setting some new trends in wedding gowns’ fashion, you could consider color red as a good way to step out of the ordinary.
