Passions Soap Opera Wedding Gowns

“Passions”, is a soap opera that was produced by NBC on a period of almost 9 years, starting in 1999 and lasting till 2008 having a plot that mixed features of a reality taking place in a community located in New England with paranormal adventures of the inhabitants of this community. Because the characters are described living various day to day situations they are involuntarily involved in engagements, weddings and divorces as well. The main religion that governs the principles of characters’ life is the Roman Catholicism, therefore several of these characters are seen as devoted Catholics praying in many situations of their complex lives.

And because these episodes of engagements, marriages and divorces are often presented in the life of the couples, fate and the concept of soul-mate have become trademarks in the evolution of this soap opera. Some of the couples have been right from the beginning destined in their relationships and even if some disturbing events took place in their lives, these ones have never intervened in the couples’ “fated” condition. This is how the event of marriages take place more than 5 times in the evolution of the “Passions” episodes, showing brides and grooms getting married, most of them in a sumptuous ceremony at the church and another couple celebrating their event in the colorful settings of Hawaii (and yes, the bride had one of the indigenous hawaiian wedding dresses ) .

“Passions” soap opera wedding gowns, the ones that describe brides marrying in the place of worship wear the traditional white color of a dress, with designs to reveal the classic styles. And as such we see A-style of a wedding gown silhouette with skirts rich-fully flowing to the floor some of them having many layers of tulle or silk fabric to give ampleness to the princess-like skirt.

The bodices are even haltered corsets or strapped around the neck, but the main feature of these “Passions” soap opera wedding gowns is reflected by the presence of a veil. One of these gowns is ivory-creamed colored with a bodice on the shoulders presenting rich embroidery and the dropped waistline continuing in a V-cut of the bodice’s edge, but no matter the color or the design of the dress, the brides are all wearing a veil, for some of them shorter length for other reaching the hemline of the skirt.

The one that distinguishes itself from the classic style of a sophisticated wedding dress is the gown that Sheridan wears at her marriage with Chris, an impromptu held in Hawaii, where the protagonist is wearing an off-shoulders bodice of the dress with empire waist that allows the skirt to flow freely in the blow of the Hawaiian wind. The head is adorned with a lively floral tiara conferring the bride the aspect of hippie style bride.

“Passions” was a soap opera full of intriguing love-stories, with events that turned the world of the characters upside down, but in the end the power of love prevailed and the couples destined to be together ended up living a happily ever after married life.
