French Bustle On Wedding Gowns




A bustle is a type of drapery that is made out of the richness of a fabrics used in skirt design. It was first introduced in the fashion between 1870 and 1875. In time this style got many ways of expressions that at first appeared in the shape of crinoline that was supported by an additional frame attached to the back of the waist. Later the crinoline was dropped and a separate bustle or tournure replaced the concept, in that it was made from several layers of fabrics that came draping over the length of the back side of the skirt. The Victorians actually were the first ones to introduce this style in fashion, and not long after that the French took the pattern in transforming the style in French bustle, style that appeared in French fashion plates in 1880.

This style was particular to those times, in contemporary society are rarely worn with the exception of haute couture and bridal fashion designs. They have also the merit to hold the train up so that your guests don’t have to pay attention not to step over your long train. Depending on the richness of the skirt’s fabrics the bustle can be made in different sizes and shapes.
