Beaded Wedding Gowns




Bead is a small decorative object that can be pierced in order to be thread or strung. The size of the beads can vary from those under one millimeter to those reaching several centimeters in diameter. The materials from which beads are made are glass, stone, bone, ivory, plastic, metal, pearl, coral, resin etc. The variety of materials is practically unlimited, as long as the material offers itself to flexibility in that to be easy handled to get different shapes that resembles to beads that can be sewn on fabrics, as it is the case of beaded wedding gowns.

Due to their variety and possibilities they present, beads have created the beading art that turned some common or special shape of beads into works of art, among which we find jewels, decorative items, fabrics embellished with beads to transform a common dress into a specially designed gown. The wedding dresses that use the beaded technique are the dresses that present rich fabrics that allow creating a design of a dress resembling to the medieval gowns. This trend in fashion was the most used in the medieval times, and women of those times often preferred to use gems instead of common beads to adorn their dresses. In fact, sewing gems on their gowns reflected the high status they had in society, since they were the only ones to afford paying for these techniques and for the gems used with it.

Beaded wedding gowns may be expensive for an outfit, but taking into account the fact that they are worn with the occasion of the most important day of one’s life, they worth paying that amount of money.
