Alternative Wedding Gowns

Alternative means having another option to another one owned or thought of before. We meet this term in different context: cultural, educational, musical, mathematical, financial, social, and of course fashion-al. as to alternative fashion, Wikipedia gives only three forms of alternative fashion: gothic, punk and fetish fashion. The latter one is not object to our theme, as it is something not to be applicable to the wide range of population, but if we consider the other two, we can find them place to fit in the world of the weddings. I have met many couples that have preferred to break the rules when they decided to get married and have something intimate to mark the moment. And to some of them money wasn’t the issue, they just needed to have it done officially to be sure that they can stay ‘legally’ together and have the status of a married couple, not only the one of lovers.

That was their alternative for a wedding and it didn’t take them too long to organize it, the wedding outfit was very casual, the wedding rings were among the simplest I had ever seen, they had the party settled in a small restaurant where the menu was already of the house’s cuisine, the wedding cake though indicated that actually it was a wedding going on in there, all in one it was the simplest wedding ceremony I had ever attended.

On the other hand, I have witnessed a wedding that had as a theme the gothic style and everything related to it breathed the perfume of a medieval atmosphere. Starting with the invitations that were very creatively conceived and reaching the wedding cake that had a gothic style castle topper as a decorative element to emphasize the theme. The alternative wedding gown of the bride was of course a gothic style wedding gown which was made from bridal satin and tulle, with an attached rich in fabrics underskirt and a strapless bodice with flower embellishments trailing down at front and back. This choice of her made her look totally different from what I knew a bride should look like; it broke the patterns of traditional and when she made her entrance to walk the aisle, everybody was stunned by her appearance.

Other options of alternative wedding gowns are related to the theme of the wedding, meaning that the more unusual the theme is the more alternative a wedding gown can be. If you consider themes such as punk themed wedding, or Halloween themed wedding, or funky themed wedding, they all present options that are different from the traditional wedding which we are so familiar with. But given the possibility to exist an alternative to the traditional wedding it would be a pity not to take it, so long as it represents your conception about the way in which a wedding ceremony may be performed. Besides it can be your one and only given possibility in your life time to have the money, the choice to organize something that is out of the ordinary, so why not give it a try?
